July 25, 2010 - Ukiah, OR
It was a "Hot" ride from Sisters, OR, to Ukiah, OR where we connected with Craig Satter from Hermiston, OR. Craig provided the lunch and cool refreshments from his cooler and then we headed to Sumpter Stockade in Sumpter, OR that afternoon. We camped on some very nice grass and eat dinner on the campground's Gazebo as a very light rain cooled down the temperature that evening.
The next day on the way to Halfway, OR we stopped at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center for a short tour.
The self guided tours through the very "life like" displays were very interesting because they include audio representing typical conversations that might have be going on between people that traveled the Oregon Trail. See more pictures below.

July 26 -27, 2010 - Halfway, OR
On Monday was met Wayne & Becky in Halfway, OR and then rode out of town several miles to a location where they plan to build a new home. We spent two days "camping" with them on their land. The days were warm and the evenings always cooled down to make it perfect for sleeping.
Wayne is in the process of clearing some brush and preparing the acreage, but he took time to show us how to run his "Cat" and gave us a chance to try it! Thanks Wayne, that was a great experience. Unless we get more practice we better stick to riding Harleys!

July 28, 2010 - Boise, ID
We arrived in Boise fairly early in the afternoon at Gary & Peggy Coopers. (Buzzard Cooper and Two Talker) They introduced us to a fun sport they are involved in called Cowboy Fast Draw. They compete in state and regional "shoots" to see who is the fastest draw and shot with a 45 six gun. Both Buzzard Cooper and Two Talker are very good at this sport.
The visit was fun and went by very quickly. They opened their home to us and we avoided yet another night on the ground in tents! That's always a good thing. Our riding today was in Gary's cage with the air conditioning turned on! Boise is a beautiful city with many family oriented activities going on all year long. It's another place we found on our travels that should be considered as a great place to live.

July 29, 2010 - Boise, ID
We spent the next evening with Mark & Bobbi Hartman in Boise. They are from Madison, WI, and friends of Darrel and Jan. We really enjoyed visiting with them and catching up on family activities. We had dinner at PF Changs in Boise and had a short tour of downtown before returning to their beautiful home for a very restful evening.
July 30, 2010 - Craters of the Moon - 86 miles west of Idaho Falls, ID
Craters of the Moon is a very interesting attraction. When a person views it for the first time it feels and appears as like nothing one has ever seen before! Craters of the Moon is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush. The lava has now completely cooled and this "weird and scenic landscape" where yesterday's volcanic events are likely to continue tomorrow...but for now the lava flows no more.
July 30, 2010 - Ketchum, WY & Sun Valley, WY
For a few hours, at least, we hang out in Sun Valley just like the rich and famous. The ski resort is closed for the season, but the area hums with visitors from all over the world. Sun Valley is just a few miles outside of Ketchum, ID. It is easy to understand why people come to vacation in this beautiful area.
More pictures coming soon of the Sun Valley area.

July 31, 2010 - Jackson, WY
We geared up by putting on our rain suits as we approached Jackson, WY, but we only experienced something between a sprinkle and a light rain. While we were having dinner in Jackson it did rain again, but it was over by the time we headed to our camp site around 8:30 PM. We camped just north of Jackson in one of the National Park campgrounds. We felt fortunate to secure a camp site for the evening because two of the four national campgrounds near Jackson were full by 6:00 pm.
Everywhere we looked in Jackson we saw other motorcycle riders! Bikes were parked on the streets of all the main drags and Harley clothing could be seen everywhere as well.
